The NetherlandsWith 22 million outbound visitors a year the Dutch market represents a significant opportunity for the Irish tourism industry. The Netherlands has the highest level of Internet penetration in Europe and more and more Dutch consumers are shopping online. Nearly three-quarters of the 11.8 million internet users in this market said in Spring 2009 that they had purchased a product online and, according to an ICT Survey by Statistics Netherlands, the most frequently mentioned online purchase is holiday accommodation. Our main focus in 2010 will be driving traffic to our website www.ierland.nl through extensive use of emarketing. Younger travellers will be targeted for shorter city breaks and shopping trips through the promotion of direct access to Ireland. We will be working closely with all the airlines including Aer Lingus, Ryanair and Easyjet to ensure that your investment goes further in this market in 2010. Currently – there are 32 flights a week from Amsterdam to Dublin; 13 flights a week from Amsterdam to Cork and 4 flights a week from Eindhoven to Dublin. Local tour operator Buro Britain offers a weekly charter service from Rotterdam to Carrickfinn, Co. Donegal from April to September.
